The Lao Chamber of Professional Accountants and Auditors (LCPAA), was established in 1998 by the ministry of finance decision No.0722/MoF dated 5 May 1998, in the name of was the Lao Institute of Certified Public Accountants (LICPA). Pursuing the Prime Minister’s decree No.161/PM, date August 26, 1996 on the establishment of Accountancy Council and Accountancy Organization. Then in 2015 it changed its name into the Lao Chamber of Professional Accountants and Auditors (LCPAA) pursuing to Ministry of Finance decree No. 1004/MoF date 7 April 2015 to be in line with the provision of the independent audit Law 2014.

This institute has a status of social organization under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance. Its main role is to mobilize, train and gather professional accountants, in order to promote and develop the accountancy profession and protect rights of accountant who practices in compliance with laws and regulations. LCPAA with the cooperation of Ministry of Finance also organizes CPA training course.
